ALIGHT - Sustanaible Aviation

SMART ENERGY ROADMAP

For the smart energy part, a thorough work with a roadmap for a sustainable airport is proceeding.

First online workshop was held in February 2021. The goal was to define key performance parameters suited to monitor steps towards fossil free and environmentally neutral airports. Ideas for steps and timeline were discussed. Also, how to create a comparable baseline in times of corona was debated. A second workshop in March defined the baseline further.

A roadmap will entail e.g. a plan for integration of energy systems, structure of passenger transport and dimensioning of EV charging, heat infrastructure for buildings and heat storage. Once the project reaches a demonstration process, it will be monitored how far the different steps brings the project to an environmental neutral airport.

Once finished, the roadmap will be part of a replication toolbox enabling other airports to adopt part of or the entire ALIGHT concept.
